Simple toddler games and exercises for you and your child

At Under the Sun Learning Centers, we realize the importance of keeping children healthy, educated, and always having fun in the process. Here are some simple toddler games and exercises to help you as parents remain involved.

Playing Ball
Nothing spells fun for toddlers like a good old-fashioned game of Ball! Although playing ball may seem fairly basic, the benefits are rather significant. For example, simply throwing a ball can be a great way to help your toddler develop agility as well as hand-eye coordination.

Body Part Naming Games
Help teach and reinforce your toddler’s knowledge of the names of various body parts by playing a simple body part naming game. This is easy as sitting with your child, pointing to a particular part of your body, and having your child say the name of it, helping them as they go if necessary. You can even try incorporating related sounds to each body part such as a nose going sneeze or a mouth going chomp. This can be a fun way to incorporate some silliness while they learn.

The Row Boat Game
Exercise and stretching for your toddler can easily be accomplished together with a game of row boat. Just sit on the floor facing your child, legs spread apart, and holding your child’s hands. Rock and lean back and forth, singing row, row, row your boat in the process. Perhaps even try changing the speed, pretending you’re in a race or chasing a dolphin.

The key to these and any other games you come up with is to keep it fun!
